Statistics for 2014 Published by “American Society of Plastic Surgeons”

Each year the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) compiles statistics showing the number of surgical procedures and minimally invasive procedures performed. “ASPS” was founded in 1931 and is the largest society of Board Certified Plastic Surgeons. They have a membership of over 7,000.

Even though the economy for the United States seems to be stalled, Americans evidently see the value in keeping up their appearances. In a competitive workplace and dating scene, self-confidence plays a major role.

Plastic Surgery Statistics

The new statistics show an increase of procedures performed in the United States, of 3% over 2013, with a total of 15.6 million.

As the reports came in, the final tally showed that for the top 5 procedures, breast augmentation remains the number one cosmetic surgical procedure with over 286,000 performed. Breast augmentation was followed by; nose reshaping, liposuction, eyelid surgery and facelifts.

In reviewing the new statistics, Miguel Delgado, M.D. a gynecomastia specialist, states that male breast reduction has increased an amazing 14% over 2013 with over 26,000 cases done.

For non-invasive procedures, Botox remains number one year after year with over 6.5 million treatments, a 6% increase over 2013 and 748% increase since the year 2000.
