- Received his medical degree in 1982 from the University of Rochester School of Medicine
- Completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ- Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was Chief Resident
- Completed his Plastic Surgery residency at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School University Hospital
- Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
- Active member of several prestigious professional organizations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons.
In addition to his plastic surgery practice, Dr. Herbstman holds a faculty position as Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
