Mark L. Jewell, MD

Dr. Mark L. Jewell served as president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the leading professional organization of board-certified plastic surgeons, from 2005 to 2006. Dr. Jewell is the United States national secretary for the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He has served as a governor for the National Endowment for Plastic Surgery and as a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Jewell is also a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons® (ASPS) and vice president of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF). Dr. Jewell’s office is in Eugene, Oregon.

In 2003, Dr. Jewell was awarded the Tiffany Award for best scientific presentation by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He also held the Joyce Kaye Lectureship from 1998 to 2004. He has taught many scientific courses and written multiple scientific journal articles and book chapters, as well as the ASPS Patient Discussion. He served as the co-chair of the Breast Implant Task Force that was successful in getting silicone gel breast implants approved by the FDA for breast augmentation. He also helped in the development of the patient website www.breastimplantsafety.org.

Dr. Jewell is an internationally renowned leader in plastic surgery with his development of the Physicians Coalition for Injectable Safety, a group of about 40,000 doctors who are trained in cosmetic medicine and injectables. He also published the Safety With Injectables Workbook, a process-oriented guide for injectables.
