Dr. James Romanelli
As a young student, Dr. Romanelli fell in love with sculpture, using his hands to create objects of beauty and expression. As he grew up, he wanted to find a way to combine his love of sculpture with his desire to improve how people feel, and after graduating with honors from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Romanelli entered medical school at the State University of New York at Downstate. While there, he excelled in general medicine and intricate surgical techniques. After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree, Dr. Romanelli trained in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital, working his way up to chief resident, and then passed the exams necessary to become board certified in surgery.
After his residency, Dr. Romanelli and his family moved to Houston, Texas, where he trained in plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine under the guidance of the two inventors of the modern breast implant, Drs. Gerow and Cronin. Dr. Romanelli’s experience at Baylor included silicone and saline breast implant surgeries, as well as breast reconstruction using breast implants, and tummy tuck surgery.
Dr. Romanelli returned to Long Island in 1990, quickly becoming recognized as an exceptionally poised and skilled plastic surgeon among the New York surgical community. “There’s an art and science to every plastic surgery procedure,” says Dr. Romanelli. “A surgeon has to have the technical skill, but he or she also needs to be able to perform careful analysis and make great decisions. At every consultation, I discuss with my Long Island breast augmentation patients how I use my training to give them great results.”

About the Long Island Plastic Surgery Practice
Over the years, Dr. Romanelli has been fortunate to attract a team of professionals to assist him with breast enlargements, breast reductions, breast lifts, and breast reconstruction. His patients are often surprised by the high level of care they receive from the team of board-certified anesthesiologists, Dr. Romanelli’s nurse practitioner, and the nursing staff. “Almost every day patients confide in me that they’re really impressed by the quality of care provided by the staff members, all the way through the process,” says Dr. Romanelli.
