CoolSculpting, the Possible Non-invasive Solution for Pseudogynecomastia

CoolSculpting the non-invasive treatment for removing fat pockets continues to emerge with new and innovative uses. Miguel A. Delgado, Jr., M.D. a San Francisco Bay Area, a gynecomastia specialist, has used CoolSculpting as a successful treatment for “pseudo-gynecomastia.”

Pseudogynecomastia is not “true gynecomastia.” True gynecomastia consists of a combination of breast tissue and breast fat and requires surgical intervention for resolution. What differentiates pseudogynecomastia from true gynecomastia is that pseudogynecomastia does not involve breast tissue; it is mostly attributed to breast fat.

In the past, men with pseudogynecomastia were relieved that their condition could usually be corrected with liposuction alone, a much less invasive procedure than the surgical procedure required for “true gynecomastia.” Today a new option is available to many pseudogynecomastia patients, and that is the non-invasive treatment CoolSculpting, which is designed to remove small pockets of fat.

The CoolSculpting patient needs to be aware that the results will not begin to be evident for two to three weeks, with continuous improvement for up to four to six months as the fat cells die off from the freezing treatment CoolSculpting provides.

The huge advantage of CoolSculpting is that there is not any downtime for recovery as there would be with a surgical procedure. After a 60 to 90 minute CoolSculpting treatment, the patient can return to normal activities. In addition, as an office procedure, the costs involved are much less.

It is possible to have more than one treatment after waiting for the final outcome of the first treatment. However, not all pseudogynecomastia patients are candidates for CoolSculpting. For a man with large amounts of fat to be removed, liposuction may still be the best option.
